DAY TWO begins, with no celebrations. All is quiet. We mourn the death of Christ and await the beginning of DAY THREE of the TRIDUUM when we will celebrate Christ’s resurrection with the celebration of the Easter Vigil.
HOLY SATURDAY, morning We are within DAY TWO of the TRIDUUM. We have celebrated DAY ONE—the Lord’s Supper [Thursday evening] and the death of Christ on a cross [Good Friday]. The sanctuary light is dark. The tabernacle is empty. Only the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick and Viaticum may be celebrated. All is quiet as we mourn the death of Christ and await the beginning of DAY THREE of the TRIDUUM when we will begin to celebrate Christ’s resurrection with the celebration of the Easter Vigil.
