Retired & Infirm Priests Collection Diocese of Sioux City March 26 - 27, 2016
They are the ones who have…
† baptized our children
† married our adult children
† given the sacraments to our children
† forgiven our sins
† challenged us to live the Gospel
† been at the bedside of the dying in the middle of the night
† are at the altar every Sunday to bring us Jesus
Please consider a generous gift to the Retired and Infirm Priests collection
Now it is our turn to say… “Thank you”
100% of the funds raised through this collection stay in the Diocese of Sioux City Money from the Retired and Infirm Priests Collection provides for the long-term funding needed by the welfare fund, to enhance the monthly benefits to our retired priests in perpetuity and to assist in the special health care needs of the infirm and retired priests of our diocese.
Prayfully consider remembering Retired and Infirm Priests in your will.
Look for your envelope in your packet or give online at

Please continue to pray daily for all our priests.
† On average, priests in the Diocese of Sioux City serve more than 60 years. They served with great devotion and now the faithful are invited to participate in this special collection to provide the best care and support in this time of escalating health care cost and our aging population of priests.
† Their leadership exemplifies Christ’s love for all while ministering to our spiritual needs. † Although some priests are viewed as “retired”, many of our priests remain active providing sacramental ministry in our parishes, schools, hospitals, nursing homes and throughout our communities. We are forever grateful for their continued acts of service.
† Currently there are more than 60 retired priests in the Diocese of Sioux City. The 2016 Collection goal is $250,000.
† The rising cost of providing healthcare and other necessary expenses for all of our priests has grown. In 2009, the Diocese of Sioux City initiated a special collection specifically for the retired and infirm priests within our diocese. Although there has been generous response to this collection, healthcare costs continue to rise.
† Because some insurance policies are limited in the services they cover, the funds generated by this collection are used for those services needed outside the scope of the policy.
