Rita Marie Bode (July 5, 1922 - July 6, 2016)
Rita (Schleis) Bode, 94 of Sioux City formerly from Sgt Bluff, IA passed away Wednesday, July 6th at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa with Father Mark Stoll officiating. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to services. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Mapleton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Rita was born July 5th, 1922 in Mapleton, Iowa the daughter of George and Josephine (Gotto) Schleis. Rita grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton high school in 1940. On April 15th 1953 she married Carl Bode at St Mary’s Church in Mapleton. Together they had five children. The couple mainly made their home in Sgt Bluff and Rita spent twelve years working at the Airport Inn and babysitting her grandchildren.
She was a member of St Joseph church, the tabernacle society, Carmelite guild and Sgt Bluff Senior Center.
Survivors include one daughter and three sons. Carla (Don) Cleveland of Sgt Bluff, John (Jill) Bode of Sgt Bluff, Dan from Sloan and Jim from Fayetteville, Arkansas, twelve grandchildren Jason Cleveland, (special friend Nicole Schweitzberger) Misti, (Sergio) Ceriani, Dusty, (Megan) Cleveland, Brook Cleveland. Taryn (Wes) Sudman, Shane Bode, Traci Bode, Brett Bode Angie Bode, Justin (Kianne) Bode, Jordan Bode and Jessica Bode, four great grandchildren, Madison Ceriani, Bailey Cleveland, Kaden Nosbisch and Kitana Bode, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Doug her husband Carl along with four brothers, two sisters, three sister in-laws and two brother in-laws.
